Once Upon A Time (Temptation Writers Craft Journal)

Once upon a time there was a fair maiden who desired what she could not have, like Eve and the apple. I was the snake whispering in her ear.

The Apple was the man, beautiful and tainted. Every knight in the land knew the Apples tale. He was forbidden, beloved once by the Queen and destroyed by her cruelty. To love him was to open a Pandora's box of unknown consequences.

But fair Eve could not resist his deep eyes and broken smile. She loved the Apple, longed to heal him, to touch him, to kiss his tears away as butterfly caresses. I, the snake, desired him.

Everyday, as Eve passed his cottage, I whispered to her slithered remarks.

"love him, touch him, kiss him"

And everyday she cried alone, unable to lover her Apple, unable to love any Adam while the snake whispered in her ear.

One day she broke as I whispered;

"love him, touch him, kiss him"

and she kissed him. For just a moment, she felt joy beyond any she has felt as long as she had lived. Just one moment. She was pulled away, and she cried out, the pain in her voice to match the fear in her Apple's eyes.

She never say her Apple again for the rest of her short, short time alive.

There was no happy ever after for Eve and her Apple, and I, the snake, move on to provide greater temptation for our next Eve and her next Apple.
